MERVA Replacement

MERVA – a de facto standard for SWIFT FIN
IBM’s MERVA (Message Entry and Routing with Interfaces to Various Applications), originally developed in the 1980s, evolved into a de facto standard for SWIFT FIN covering all relevant aspects of SWIFT message handling in one unique solution. As MERVA is no longer developed and does not support the IP-based SWIFTNet nor the RMA security layer, MERVA customers needed a set of new software components to implement these functions and complementing the application functions provided by MERVA.

Smooth migration to a single integrated product
BOX for SWIFTNet allows MERVA users to smoothly migrate to a single integrated product supporting all SWIFTNet services and message types and at the same time  addressing  the complex application functions previously provided by MERVA such as

  • Complex organizational structures modelled via MERVA queues
  • Elaborate analysis / routing mechanisms to determine the recipients of messages
  • Printing services, manual data entry, authorization and correction

Outstanding MERVA expertise
This development has been based on the expertise gained from some 100 person years of practical MERVA experience and from the very beginning took into account the complexity of MERVA migration projects. As a result BOX for SWIFTNet is a solution providing and optimizing extended MERVA functions, and based on a modern architecture with several tools to allow customers applications to continue interacting with MERVA without necessarily requiring changes in those applications.
